We encourage students to enroll with us at 15 and 5 months. Yes, a whole month before your teen can obtain their permit. Signing up early guarantees the following:
- Students can start taking the classroom portion immediately after enrolling. This helps build a good solid foundation for when they drive with their parent behind-the-wheel and prepares them for their permit test.
- Students will be higher on the in-car list for whichever month they are placed on. We recommend students do their behind-the-wheel sessions closer to when they test for their license; subsequently, everything we go over, especially maneuverability, will stay fresh with them and they will have a much higher success rate.
Students can apply for their Learner's Permit once they have turned 15 and 6 months.
Students under 18 are required by the State of Ohio to complete 24 hours of classroom (Online, Virtual, or In-Person) and 8 hours of Behind-The-Wheel. Students over 18 do NOT have to complete this requirement but we do recommend completing this requirement.
At age 15 years and six months, an applicant may go to any driver exam station to take the knowledge and vision screening to begin the temporary permit process. Prior to testing, applicants must provide proof of:
Full legal name
Date of birth
Social Security number (if assigned)

We will make the student's Certificate of Completion once they have completed their 24 hours of classroom and 8 hours of behind-the-wheel.
Students that are using an online provider (ex. Aceable, AAA) for their classroom portion will be required to bring in their Certificate of Completion (Required to Drive).
You MUST bring in the ORIGINAL copy of your certificates that they send you in the mail.
We will make a Certificate of Completion (Covering the 24 hours of Classroom and 8 hours of Behind-the-wheel) once we have the Certificate of Completion (From the Online Course) and the student has completed their behind-the-wheel sessions. This is what is required for the student to test at the BMV.
We require 3 business days to process Certificates.
Students are required to have all classroom sessions completed or if they did an online course (ex. Aceable, AAA) they will need their Certificate of Completion (Mailed after the online course is completed).
Also, Prestige Driving Academy requires students have 20 hours of Behind-The-Wheel time before driving with us. This allows us to focus on more advanced lessons that will better prepare students for their test at the BMV.
We require a 24 hour notice if an in-car session needs to be cancelled. There will be a $50 fee assessed for in-car sessions cancelled within 24 hours. This fee is entitled to the instructor because this is their timeslot and with proper notice we could of filled the slot with a different student.
Classroom - Students who sign up for in-person classes have 6 months from their FIRST classroom session until their LAST in-car session to finish all 24 hours of classroom and 8 hours of behind-the-wheel.
Online - Students have 6 months to finish their 24 hours of online classroom (ex. - Aceable, AAA) and a seperate 6 months to complete their 8 hours of behind-the-wheel.
These rules are in accordance with State of Ohio regulations.
